Hilang Child shares “Starlight, Tender Blue” video

Having released his debut album Years this summer via Bella Union, Hilang Child has today shared a video for “Starlight, Tender Blue”, a track described by Ed Riman (Hilang Child) as the “darkest, angriest song on the album”. The video features a beautifully shot performance by dancer Olivia Norris who director Rosie Litterick used to convey “the free and human outpouring of something which is hard to define in words, and is sometimes done better by the body.”

The special thrill of hearing an artist grow into their voice is emphatically served by the debut album from Ed Riman, the half-Welsh, half-Indonesian, London-based singer-songwriter and soundscape-ist who records as Hilang Child. Released via Bella Union on 10th August, Years radiates a rich sense of self-discovery in its lush, textured layers of sound and feeling. Between its blossoming choruses, multi-tracked harmonies and loose theme of embracing adulthood, it’s an epiphanic debut from an artist not just fulfilling his early promise but reaching far beyond it. Catch Hilang Child performing live through October, November and December this year, including an appearance at this years Iceland Airwaves and as support on his tour with Bella Union label mate, Liela Moss. Full dates can be found here.

Hilang Child also recently penned and recorded “Pesawat Aeroplane”, a song performed in Indonesian to celebrate his performance at this years Archipelago Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia.
