Critical acclaim for Deportation Blues, out now on Bella Union:

“Utterly compelling… Taking the fractured pop of Van Dyke Parks into a realm of synth–deep neurosis, droning chords and stoned piano jazz, managing to somehow square a circle connecting Prince, Suicide and Dennis Wilson.” Uncut – 8/10

“An absorbing aural journey… Deportation Blues melds nods to Randy Newman, doo wop–pop, rococo Rundgren–isms, AIR–evoking electronics and late night jazz.” MOJO – 4 Stars ****

“A challenging but rewarding adventure into experimental pop.” Sunday Times

Deportation Blues is a most convincing capture of an extreme personal situation… It’s palette is broad, going from cinematic orchestrations through to funk and off–kilter electronica.” Record Collector – 4 Stars ****

“A brilliant album… Veering from moody jazz noir to brooding pop and afro funk, Deportation Blues is impossible to pigeonhole.” The Sun – 4 Stars ****

“A ferociously engaged trip through a troubled landscape – stoned synths, doo–wop and the influence of Todd Rundgren and Prince loom large.” The Mirror – 4 Stars ****

“A singular talent. He pours out his troubles in inimitable style… The title track recalls Talk Talk’s more adventurous moments, and he continues to pick and mix styles with aplomb.” PROG

“Shot through with idiosyncratic pop nous and masterful playing, it’ll reward anyone brave enough to follow him down the rabbit hole.” Long Live Vinyl

“Some of the most rewardingly soulful and exhilarating synthpop around.” Electronic Sound
