BNQT share “Mind Of A Man”

Days ahead of their debut album release, BNQT are pleased to share their new single “Mind Of A Man”, a track featuring Fran Healy of Travis on lead vocal duties. Of the track, Healy says,  “when I presented “Mind of a Man” to the guys, at that stage just a piano and vocal demo, they asked me for any thoughts I may have for a vibe or direction but I told them I would prefer to sit and watch them do it all with a caveat that I would make a noise if it was going in a direction I felt wasn’t right but they are such accomplished musicians, I knew it would be cool.  And it was.  The song is about how fucking dumb men can be.” Premiered this morning on The Line Of Best Fit, you can now listen via the link below…

BNQT, the indie super-group conceived and led by Eric Pulido of Midlake, and featuring  Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses, Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, Fran Healy of Travis + Jason Lytle of Grandaddy. The concept of BNQT (pronounced “Banquet”) came to Pulido while touring Midlake’s 2013 release, “Antiphon”. Gathering a number of contrasting yet complementary artists he’d befriended or shared the stage with, Pulido set out to establish an environment in which they could collaborate: “That’s what art is about for me,” Pulido says, “creating with other people that you love and appreciate.”

The idea for BNQT was enthusiastically embraced by all involved, but with the artists stretched across the globe, recordings were split both with travel to Denton and remotely over the net. Over a year and some change, songs grew from demos to fully realized recordings, with Pulido guiding the way, and encouraging the artists to stretch out into new, uncharted territory.  The resulting work is full of surprises, a collection that feels oddly familiar and attractively alien.
