Explosions In The Sky share ‘Ecstatics’ video

Texas-based instrumental experimentalists Explosions in the Sky have unveiled the first music video from The Wilderness, far and away the most ambitious and accomplished record in the band’s oeuvre. The video is a stunning stop-motion animation clip for “The Ecstatics” by director Hayley Morris, who elaborated on the meticulous animation process via an interview and behind the scenes clip that are up at Fast Company

The band are also set to head out on a new run of North American tour dates in continued support of the album. The live shows for The Wilderness to date have reflected the aggressively modern and forward-thinking approach of the band’s current chapter, both musically and visually, consequently selling out the biggest venues of their storied career.

The Wilderness is a bold, experimental work combining the band’s unique song craft with the cinematic sensibility that has elevated them to the level of regard and demand they enjoy as film composers. It is an album where shoegaze, electronic experimentation, punk damaged dub, noise, and ambient folk somehow coexist without a hint of contrivance—and cohere into some of the most memorable and listenable moments of the band’s expansive body of work—“proper” studio albums and major motion picture soundtracks alike.
