Holly Macve shares “Heartbreak Blues” video
Yesterday Holly Macve premiered her brand new video for album track “Heartbreak Blues” on Culture Collide. Watch it now below…
With “Heartbreak Blues,” Holly Macve completes her self-styled trilogy of videos from her forthcoming debut album, Golden Eagle. While “Corner of My Mind” drew from the solitary early morning hours in the Yorkshire landscape and “No One Has the Answers” explored the beautiful decay of an off-season resort town, “Heartbreak Blues” entices the viewer into a smoky cabaret, where a femme fatale has one man questioning his grip on reality. As one who has been intrigued by Hollywood icons like Veronica Lake and Anita Ekberg, Macve had the main character of the video embody old Hollywood-style beauty. After a failed search for the perfect dummy, Macve and Kennett found the mannequin named “Misty,” which was eventually chosen for the video, at the Bee’s Mouth, sunglasses and all.
Macve’s much-anticipated debut album, Golden Eagle, is due for release March 3rd on Bella Union. With its spellbinding country and western ballads and devastating emotional delivery, the album is one of the most remarkably assured debuts of this or any other year, especially given she’s though only 21 years old.
Having already supported the likes of John Grant, Villagers and Benjamin Clementine, and wowed audiences at festivals such as Latitude and End Of The Road over the summer, Holly will be embarking on a solo headline tour with her band in April 2017 as well as performing at Eurosonic in January and SXSW in March.
