Critical acclaim for The Dew Lasts An Hour…

“Rosie Blair’s soaring, ethereal vocal style so often echoes that of Liz Fraser… a hybrid of Cocteau Twins shimmer and the relentless forward propulsion of Stereolab’s French Disko. However, Ballet School update and enhance, rather than copy and clone.” Q – 4 Stars****

“Adopted Berliners Ballet School trade in a lustrous synth-pop rich in melody and introspection… stentorian basslines and churning atmospherics add a pleasing thread of melodrama. It’s ’80s pop, but not as you know it.” Uncut – 8/10

“Like Tango In The Night Fleetwood Mac covering the Cocteau Twin… So audaciously pulled off it’s impossible not to grin and wonder why mainstream pop missed this trick 30 years ago.” MOJO – 3 Stars***

“Ballet school do their heroes proud and really come into their own when they apply their pop smarts: ‘Heartbeat Overdrive’ and ‘Cherish’ are gorgeous should’ve-been hits.” NME – 7/10

“Blissed-out, Hard to beat Eighties’ spaciousness, while singer Rosie Blair’s vocals have earned comparisons with everyone from Liz Fraser to Cyndi Lauper.” Esquire

“A polished debut for the Berlin-based noir-pop collective, verging on the psychedelic with billowing electronic soundscapes.” Gay Times – 4 Stars ****

“Ballet School channel eighties electro-pop in glorious fashion… the washed-out guitar on ‘Heartbeat Overdrive’ is a masterstroke.” Loud & Quiet

“winterfresh guitar-music-disguised-as-keyboard-music was sleek, stylish, and — above all else — a rush.” Stereogum
