Just days before the release of his new album Rosewood Almanac, Will Stratton is pleased to share “Manzanita”, a beautiful and heartwarming track that sees him reflecting on age. In Stratton’s own words:“I wrote Manzanita last spring. It was the final song I wrote for this album, and it’s about watching plants bloom and take root at the same time as people grow and adapt and age, and how beautiful that can be. Sandy Gordon plays the drums, Gabriel Birnbaum plays the saxophone, Maia Friedman sings backup, and I do the rest, aside from a little swell of strings at the end.” Premiered on The Line Of Best Fit yesterday, you can listen to the track now below…
Later this month Will Stratton will join two other Bella Union bands (Pavo Pavo & Mammút) on tour as part of Bella Union’s 20th Anniversary celebrations. Stratton will also perform at Rough Trade East with label mates Lowly.

“This is the sound of lost summer beauty, dangling one foot in the waters where Midlake and Iron & Wine have spent time, another in the depths of Nick Drake and Bert Jansch.” The Guardian
“An alluring new talent… Rosewood Almanac delivers in an economical 34 minutes as vividly and seductively as any other confessional singer-songwriter you care to mention.” Record Collector – 4 Stars ****
“A beautiful record, full of delicate strumming and evocative vocals… Fans of Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens and Nick Drake need to hear Rosewood Almanac.” Louder Than War – 8/10
“There’s a great deal of deft guitar work under the songs, producing a vibrant underlay to some breathy vocals and mature songwriting.” Guitarist – 9/10
