Seeking Musicians

Happy, snowy January to you!

A young, female singer-songwriter is on the lookout for a London based drummer / percussionist, guitarist, bassist and keyboard/synth player and/or multi-instrumentalists.

It would be great if they were happy to sing harmonies and backing vocals although it isn’t vital.

Do let us know if you’d be interested in hearing the music and meeting up to play.

She is looking to tour from the Spring onwards.

Ryan Francesconi & Mirabai Peart // ‘Parallel Flights’ video

Last month Bella Union released Road To Palios, an exquisite cycle of instrumental duets for acoustic guitar and violin by Portland-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Francesconi and his partner Mirabai Peart, and now we are very pleased to share with you the new video for ‘Parallel Flights’.

Here’s what director Matt Kresling had to say about making the video…

“I have an old-fashioned idea about music videos—I think the videos should relate to the music. Some videos seem as if you could swap out the music and no one would be the wiser, but I didn’t want that to be the case with Ryan and Mira’s video. I wanted to make something that was a specific expression of their music. It was a bit tricky, inasmuch as their music is instrumental. So what’s it about, really? How to visually express it? Firstly, I knew they’d taken this trip to Greece together, and guessed it must have been an important trip, because hell, Ryan named the album after it: ‘Road to Palios.’ So it seemed like an obvious choice to make the video some kind of journey to idyllic Palios, probably starting from the urban hell-scape of Portland, Oregon (where he lives).

Second, I tried to draw on what I know about Ryan. We’ve been friends since we were 11-years-old, and I imagine I know stuff about him that isn’t apparent to audiences who only know him as a phenomenal multi-instrumentalist on a distant stage. For example, I know that he’s a funny guy. That doesn’t really come across when he’s shredding on a tambura, but I wanted to get his sense of humor into the video. Also, if you didn’t know, he’s freaky about cycling. So… bikes.”

Road To Palios is out now on Bella Union Records
